The Cluster Made in Italy Association has been officially established. It is an alliance between public and private sector, coordinated by Smi – Sistema Moda Italia, in order to create a more structured and easier dialogue between universities together with the research’s world and the companies belonging to the supply chain of ‘beautiful and well-made’: textile-apparel, shoes, leather accessories, glasses, fur coats, goldsmiths, furniture and relative accessories.
The Cluster’s aim is to act selectively on the main gaps of the Made in Italy innovation system, in order to make it more integrated and inclusive, increasing the efficacy of interconnections, fostering the development of new competences and assets, promoting high potential innovation projects. The goals have been well summarized by Marino Vago, designated president of Smi: ‘For traditional supply chains as ours, innovation of product, process and design represents a strategic element. For this reason, we have thought about putting together the excellences of research and of companies in order to work totally on Made in Italy, aiming at strengthening our companies’ competitiveness, starting from the SME which have to face an increasingly hardened international competition’.
